This cottage and bothy (building to the rear) was known for many years as the Grieve’s House, it was built in the late 19th Century.
On a farm, the Grieve was the foreman and would supervise all the farm workers. One of the benefits of being the Grieve was you got to keep a cow, the bothy would have been a byre where the cow was kept, supplying milk for the household and a calf for additional income. Most recently it was the home of the wonderful Sandy Davidson, with his wife Liz and their family, so the house became known as “Sandy D’s” house. He now lives in Oldmeldrum but still helps on the farm, he does all the firewood for the farm and cottages and knows everything there is to know about Kilblean. Do have a chat with him if you see him. His son Andrew does all the agricultural contracting here so the family connection remains strong.
The cottage has a double suite, twin room, kitchen diner and cosy living room as well as luxury amenities to make your stay extra comfortable.
There are numerous walks around the area for you to discover. Aberdeenshire provides access to both the mountains and the coast making this area truly unique and perfect for walkers of all abilities.
