There are many castles to visit, whisky trails to lose yourself in and a spectacular coastline to explore, not to mention Bennachie for hillwalking. The local village of Oldmeldrum is a 5 minute drive, offering shopping, pubs and places to eat and Inverurie is our local market town where you can sample in the delights of the farmers market every second Saturday of the month from 9am – 1pm.

No visit to Kilblean is complete without trying an Aberdeenshire buttery, a dram of Glengarioch or a sumptuously tasty Aberdeen Angus steak.

Local Sights

There is an array of National Trust properties such as Haddo House and Leith Hall which are well worth a visit or you can stop by the beautiful Pitmedden Gardens for a stroll, situated only 10 minutes from Kilblean.

If you enjoy distilleries, there are more to be found in this part of Scotland than there are anywhere else in the country.
Glen Garioch was founded by the Mansons in 1797 and is not only the local distillery, but is one of the oldest in Scotland, dating back over 200 years. As a matter of fact, the barley from the Kilblean farm was sold to the distillery up until quite recently.

Check out www.glengarioch.com for tours and tastings.

Walking

There are a range of walks to take advantage of, including the farm area itself.

The closest hill with an iconic skyline and can be seen from the farm is Bennachie. This offers a great walk to the top with wonderful views of Aberdeenshire and the North Sea. On your way back down, don’t forget to stop at the Old Post Office Cafe for some much needed refreshments.

Activities

You can find a whole host of golf courses to choose from such as the Oldmeldrum Golf Course and Meldrum House Golf Course, which are both very close to Kilblean. Not to mention further afield there are the famous Royal Aberdeen, Cruden Bay and Trump Links courses.

If golf isn’t quite what you’re after, there are tennis courts as close as Oldmeldrum and the nearby town of Pitmedden.
